With Centuries-Old Tradition

The penny knife Jack is an original Taschenfeitel and comes with a centuries-old manufacturing tradition. Of course these fact is worth it for us to support. Trattenbach is a place in the Austrian mountains while Taschenfeitel is Austrian dialect for pocket knife.

It is a sharp picnic knife. Add a fork and you have a really great outdoor cutlery set. Moreover it is a wonderful companion for gardening due to its practical size and less weight. The handle is made of beech wood which is a typical used hardwood in Europe.

In 2015 the Trattenbacher Taschenfeitel is recognized by UNESCO as intangible heritage.

A penny is a common addition to knife gifts as it is considered bad luck to give a gift that can sever. We add a Swiss Rappen to this knife which has the same symbolism. Since the Swiss coin 1 Rappen disappeared from circulation completely it is a collectors‘ item and is seen as a bringer of good luck.

Even after hundreds of years the design of this knife barely changed. First of all this kind of knife was made for farmers as well as food prep during field work or in the woods. With its just 30 grams it is such a great knife for hiking and tracking. Its blade is strong and stable as well as sharp.
