The advantages of enamel tableware

Enamel tableware are still very popular
This is because the design is timeless and at the same time associated with nostalgia. And of course because of the unbeatable advantages:
- Enamel is made from natural raw materials
- The surface is cut and scratch resistant
- Enamel is easy to clean and inhibits bacteria
- Enamel is odorless and tasteless
- High-quality enamel is heat-resistant up to 400 ° C
- Very durable
- Easy to clean
- Enamel is recyclable in scrap metal
What actually is enameling?
During enamelling, a vitreous, inorganic coating is melted onto metal. This requires high temperatures. The temperature must be above 480 ° C. Thanks to the enamel coating, enamel mugs, enamel cups or enamel cookware have special surface properties that are very popular not only because of their appearance. The enamelling process creates a pore-free and absolutely smooth surface. This is also the reason why enamel is anti-bacterial.

Enamel products are very heat resistant
Enamelware can also be used for BBQ's and campfires without any problems, because enamel is heat-resistant up to 400 ° C. Grill and oven dishes are also made from enamel. They are a good alternative to the disposable aluminum trays that are often used.
After heating, enamel must be cooled slowly. Rapid cooling with cold water can crack the surface. The glass-like surface could even partially pop off. Of course, that also depends on the quality of the enamel.

Is enamel harmless to health?
Melamine vaporizes formaldehyde when heated. Aluminum could be responsible for the development of dementia. What about the popular, easy-care and hygienic material enamel?
Enamel is very similar to glass. It consists of almost the same ingredients. Inorganic materials such as quartz sand, borax, feldspar, fluorspar and soda are melted into enamel. There are also some non-toxic oxides to modify the properties of the enamel. Even when heated up, no toxic substances are emitted. There may be an aluminum carrier under the enamel. If this is exposed, aluminum could get into the food. It is therefore advisable to pay attention to what metal the carrier material is made of.
