The history of the pocket knife

Why do we love pocket knives so much?
The oldest folding knife discovered to date dates from between 600 and 500 BC. The Celtic knife was found in Upper Austria and had an iron blade with a bone handle. Incidentally, the first Swiss Army pocket knife was introduced in 1891. The model had grip panels made of blackened oak. A pocket knife has always been a tool or cutlery.
Pros and cons of pocket knives
Pocket knives are small, handy and safe to transport. The advantage of such a knife is the transport. The blade can be folded. Associated with this is the disadvantage of the lower stability of the joint. Under extreme loads, the locking mechanism can even fail and the risk of injury is therefore higher than with fixed knives.
The knife for your pocket
When hiking, on day trips, cycling, tobogganing on ski tours, a day at the lake or simply in the office, the pocket knife is always with you. It comes in handy in so many situations and that's why we almost always have the pocket knife with us. Quickly cut something, tighten a screw, smear bread, cut off a piece of cheese, no problem. It seems that we were born to love pocket knives.
I got my first pocket knife when I was 7 years old. I really wanted one because my father always had his Swiss Army knife with him. It was a very small one, but I kept it for a long time until I lost it at some point. We therefore often associate it with a nostalgic feeling, which gives the utility of the knife an emotional component. We just think they're beautiful. Even though we may not necessarily need them every day, we are all the happier when we do need it.
