Get your vitamin boost with easy made lemonade

Homemade lemonade is not only delicious, it can also be good for your immune system with the right ingredients...
Use chemically untreated organic lemons so that you can use them with its peel.
Also, pay attention to where the lemons you buy come from so that the transport route is not too far. For us in Switzerland, Italy is closest in this case. In Italy, in various regions, including Sicily, up to four harvests per year are possible. This means that lemons from Italy are actually in season all year round.
Ginger is also added to the lemonade for that special kick. Perhaps it is interesting that ginger is considered antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. In addition, ginger strengthens the immune system. But most of the active ingredients are located directly under the shell. For this reason, it makes sense not to peel the ginger.
Ingredients for 1 liter of lemonade
You need:
- two organic lemons,
- a thumb-sized piece of ginger,
- 4 tablespoons of brown or white sugar and
- one liter of tap water or sparkling water.
I always use my soda stream with glass bottles for sparkling water. It's more ecological and I don't have to carry water bottles home from the supermarket.
First dissolve the sugar in a little hot water and put it in the fridge. Then cut the lemons and ginger into thin slices. Pour the water over it and add the sugar, stir and let it steep in the fridge.
